Playa Vista Elementary Set to Open in August 2012

Last night a preliminary parent meeting was held at LMU for parents of prospective Playa Vista Elementary School students. PV Elementary is set to open August 14, 2012 and will be the official elementary school zone of all residents of 90094.

With the toddlers and infants who moved with their parents to Playa Vista and those who were born in Playa Vista and have grown up, this school is coming at the right time. One resident said “there has been a baby boom here over the past 5-7 years and many of the kids play with each other and parents hang out together at the parks. An elementary school in our backyard will really add to the community feel.” It should also improve the property values. Elementary school zoning is an extremely important part of home buyer’s decision of where to purchase. Currently, Loyola Village, where Playa Vista residents who attend elementary school go, is rated an 8 out of 10 by greatschools.org. Playa Vista Elementary has hopes of exceeding that in addition to the convenience of a walk or quick drop-off to school will only add to Playa Vista’s reputation and desirability as a Westside community.

PV Elementary is also set to be the only LAUSD school to achieve a gold LEED certification rating. This is not only more energy-efficient and environmental friendly, but of the “green” culture that Playa Vista is all about.
